You were NOT born creative? Try this.

You think you weren't born creative.

But it's not true. Creative people are regular people.

They do 3 things you don't. Here's what they are:

1) Fast to action

Creativity isn’t robust. It's FRAGILE. The faster you act on ideas, the better.

For example, I'm writing this newsletter on Beehiiv.

Why did I pick this platform? Because of the below button.

A single press on this button takes me to a blank sheet.

press the button > create

No friction. No distractions.

If I had made it hard for myself to start creating, I simply wouldn't start. Simple as that.

Make it easy to start.

2) Okay with shitty

Creativity has a friend. Curiosity.

Creativity has an enemy. Judgement.

Do you judge yourself about how shitty your results are? You CAN’T get curious about what you can create next.

Judgement is crippling. Stop judging yourself.

Start creating shitty drafts.

Clear the pipeline for better work to flow.

3) Tries again and again

Think of your ancestors. Building a hut in the jungle.

First attempt: shitty. The roof leaks.

They just don't give up. They keep trying until they come up with a hut that does the job.

Creativity isn't about making art to hang in a museum.

It's about solving problems. In a way that wasn't thought of before.

(Art too solves problems but it’s another discussion.)

The only way to solve problems is to keep trying.

You're wired for it.

Your turn

Next time you're writing something, shooting a video, or doing a sketch, think of your ancestors building that hut. And solve a problem with your creative work.
